Bror Magnus Tødenes

Norwegian tenor Bror Magnus Tødenes is one of the most talented singers the nordic countries have seen the last decades, and this October he joins Astrid Nordstad at our Operafest in Terminus.

"Credit to Bror Magnus Tødenes for a sweetly sung Steersman, his “Mit Gewitter und Sturm” bright-toned and poetically delivered" - Bachtrack.com

Norwegian tenor Bror Magnus Tødenes studied at the Institute of Music at NTNU in Trondheim, and later at the Conservatorio di Musica Santa Cecilia in Rome. In 2014, he released his debut CD, Remembering Jussi. In 2015, he received both First Prize and the Audience Prize at the Renata Tebaldi International Voice Competition, and in 2017 he was awarded the highly prestigious 4-year Statoil Scholarship.

Spring 2018 he charmed both audience and critics as the Steersman in the brand new production of The flying Dutchman at his first visit at Bergen National Opera. Before being the solist in Berlioz’ Grand messe des morts at the Bergen International Festival, he sang the title role in a concert version of Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito at The National Theatre in Prague, conducted by Marc Minkowski.

2019 Bror Magnus Tødenes made his debut at the Bastille Opera as Hylas in Les troyens by Berlioz. Season 2019/20 he sang Alfredo Germont in La traviata at The Royal Opera in Stockholm (Kungliga Operan), and spring 2021 he will go to Toulouse as Lenski in Eugene Onegin at Théâtre du Capitole.at

Before singing at the Operafest in Terminus, Tødenes is interpreting the role as Jesus in Beehoven's oratorio Christ on the Mount of Olives (Christus am Ölberge) in Grieghallen on the 4th of October.
