He has performed at The Met, Wiener Staatsoper and La Scala in Milan. Currently, Roberto Frontali is visiting Bergen in the title role in Macbeth.

Italian baritone Roberto Frontali is renowned for his interpretations of Verdi and Puccini, but he has also acclaimed for title roles like Eugen Onegin by Tschaikovski.

One of Frontali’s signature roles is Verdi’s Rigoletto, who he has sung at The Metropolitan Opera in New York. At The Met he has also been Scarpia (in Puccini’s Tosca), a role which has also brought him to the opera in Hamburg, to Tokyo and to São Paolo in Brasil. Other Verdi roles to mention are Otello at Teatro San Carlo in Naples and Falstaff at The Los Angeles Opera.

Frontali has sung Macbeth in opera houses like Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, and two years ago (2018) Teatro Massimo in Palermo launched a DVD-recording with Frontali in the title role in Macbeth. As Macbeth in the Grieg Hall Frontali is visiting Norway and Bergen National Opera for the first time.

February 2021 Frontali sings the title role in Donizetti’s Belisario at Theater an der Wien.
