Brenden Gunnell

American tenor Brenden Gunnell arrives in Bergen as Rusalka's fatal love – the Prince.

American born, United Kingdom-based Brenden Gunnell, received his diploma from the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. In 2006, after graduating, he became an ensemble member for the Tiroler Landestheater in Innsbruck under Brigitte Fassbaender.

2011 – 2013 he was a soloist at The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, performing in Peter Grimes and Macbeth, among others.

At the Glyndebourne Festival he sang the role as the Prince in Rusalka, and some of his signature roles are the title role in Peter Grimes, Siegmund in Die Walküre - and Sergei in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk by Shostakovich.

From December 2021 Gunnell will be a member of the opera in Leipzig, and summer 2022 he sings the title role as Peter Grimes at Teatro La Fenice in Venice, with Paul Curran as stage director.
