Kari Postma

The award-winning soprano Kari Postma comes to Bergen for the title role as Hanna Glawari in The Merry Widow 2.0 spring 2022.

The Norwegian soprano Kari Postma has studied at the Music Academies of Trondheim and Oslo, and graduated from Operaakademiet in Copenhagen in 2004.

Kari Postma is winner of the Queen Sonja International Music Competition, has won first prize in the International Phillips music Competition, second prize and special prize of the Leipzig Opera in the Francisco Vinas International Singing Contest and was a finalist in the Montserrat Caballé International Singing Competition.

Recent engagements include her debut as Tosca at the Nederlandse Reisopera, the title role in Catalani's La Wally at the Volksoper Wien and the title role in Willy Decker’s staging of Katya Kabanova at the Norwegian National Opera,.​  

Postma has performed on some of the most prestigious stages in Scandinavia and Europe, including roles at the Komische Oper Berlin, the Norwegian National Opera, Royal Danish Opera and as a member of the ensemble at the Staatsoper Hamburg. Autumn 2020 Postma was Gertrud in the fairytale opera Hänsel und Gretel by Humperdinck at the Norwegian National Opera. 

Autumn 2021 she sung Dronningen (The Queen) in the world premiere of the Norwegian composer Ole Olsen's 102 year old opera Klippeøerne with Arktisk Filharmoni (Arctic Philharmonic).
