Kristin Okerlund
Pianist and vocal coach Kristin Okerlund is working at the Wiener Staatsoper as repetiteur as well as teaching at the Vienna Conservatory.
Kristin Okerlund studied at the University of Illinois and at the Conservatoire in Vienna. She is a prizewinner of several piano competitions and has given concerts with several orchestras. She has performed around the world as a soloist, in chamber music concerts and as an accompanist.
Since 1993 Okerlund is employed by the Wiener Staatsoper as répétiteur and in 1992 she received a teaching position and from 2000 her own chorus repetition class at the Vienna Conservatory. She has given concerts, among others, with Gruberova and Kirchschlager, and chamber music concerts with Werner Hink, the solo clarinetist Roger Salander and the Ensemble Wien-Petersburg. She is the recipient of the “Golden Needle” of the Friends of the Wiener Staatsoper - in recognition of her reliable support of numerous events.
Okerlund has been a part of the artistic team for our summer academy Opera by the fjord since the start in 2021, and will in 2024 be joining for the fourth year in a row.
