Lydia Hoen Tjore

What a week! The young soprano Lydia Hoen Tjore joins our two sparkling operetta concerts at DNS, before she as the only Norwegian sings in the finale at Queen Sonja International Music Competition in Grieghallen.

The young Norwegian soprano Lydia Hoen Tjore (born 1994) is from the island Radøy just outside Bergen. At the early age of 13, she was taken up in the Grieg Academy talent program, and at 17 she continued in Copenhagen under Susanne Eken at The Royal Danish Academy of Music and The Opera Academy. She has won several prizes, most remarkably the Championship for Young Musicians in her class, four times in a row in 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012.

She made her debut as Zerlina in Don Giovanni at The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, where she has sung a row of roles including Adina in L'elisir d'amore and Micaela in Carmen. Mozart's operas suit her well and she has sung Susanna, Despina, Donna Elvira and Barbarina at various Italian festivals.

The operetta concerts at DNS autumn 2021 marks her house debut with Bergen National Opera. The same week she is the only Norwegian chosen to participate in the final concert at Queen Sonja International Music Competition, in Grieghallen Saturday 20th of November.

In January 2023 she is back here in Bergen, as Second Flowermaiden in the concert version of Wagner's Parsifal, with Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.
