Rebecka Sofia Ahvenniemi

Rebecka Sofia Ahvenniemi (b. 1982) holds a master’s degree in composition from The Grieg Academy of Music, in addition to a master in philosophy based on Heidegger and Adorno. She has worked mainly with score music, but in the last years she has turned to “acousmatic music” – a sort of electroacoustic music performed through loud-speakers, often as “amisonics” – a surround system where the sound covers not only the listener’s horizontal plane, but also above and below the listener. She has an extensive list of works including both vocal and instrumental music in all formats, in addition to electronic music.
