Stuart Skelton

The Australian tenor Stuart Skelton was named Male Singer of the Year at the 2014 International Opera Awards. He is one of the finest heldentenors on the stage today, critically acclaimed for his outstanding musicianship, tonal beauty, and intensely dramatic portrayals.

Recent highlights include the Florestan in Fidelio at La Scala in Milan, title role in Otello at The Met and Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Siegmund in Die Walküre at Royal Opera, The Met and Müpa in Budapest.

Stuart Skelton can be heard on numerous recording, notably The Dream of Gerontius with Sir Andrew Davis conducting the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde with Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony, and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with Sir Charles Mackerras and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.

After Peter Grimes in 2017, Stuart Skelton returned to Bergen the year after, then as Otello. Autumn 2019 he is back as Peter Grimes.
