David Hansford

David Hansford is currently a permanent singer with Edvard Grieg Kor. He has been featured as a soloist with Bergen Filharmoniske Orkester, Bergen Cathedral Choir and Bergen National Opera.

David Hansford studied at Birmingham Conservatoire and Royal College of Music in London. In Great Britain, he has performed more than 20 roles including Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, Daland in Der fliegende Holländer and Marquis in La traviata, as well as creating leading roles in numerous contemporary operas.

He has featured as a soloist with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra in Auerbach’s The Infant Minstrel and Beethoven’s Choral Fantasia. With Bergen Cathedral Choir, he has appeared as Christ in the Passion of St. Matthew and sung the bass solos in Rautavaara’s Vigilia and Handel’s Messiah. David Hansford has been a guest at Bergen National Opera as a soloist: Yamadori and Bonzo in Madama Butterfly and Montano in Verdi's Otello.
