Siv Oda Hagerupsen

Mezzo-soprano Siv Oda Hagerupsen visits Bergen again this autumn, now as Glaša in Katya Kabanova.

Siv Oda studied at the North Norway Conservatory of Music in Tromsø and the Oslo Academy of Operatic Arts.

She was a finalist in the Norwegian part of the Queen Sonja International Music Competition in 1999 and was selected as a Young Talent by the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. She made her debut with The Norwegian Opera & Ballett in Oslo as the Third Lady in The Magic Flute and returned to the company to sing Marcellina and Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro, and Mercédès in Carmen, among others.

2017 she was Emilia i Verdi’s Otello with Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, and Suzuki in Madama Butterfly at Opera på Skäret in Sweden. Summer 2018 she returned to Skäret, then as Eboli i Verdi’s Don Carlo.

2019 Hagerupsen performed as Marthe in Gounod’s Faust Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, and The Mother in Humperdincks opera Hänsel & Gretel, at Opera Nordfjord.  Autumn 2020 she participated in the concert series with Artic, presentation excerpts from all four operas by the Norwegian composer Ole Olsen.

Autumn 2022 she sang Suzuki in Madame Butterfly at the Arctic Opera Festival in Tromsø, and this spring (2023) she was The turnspit ((Kuchtík) in Rusalka here in Bergen, directed by Àlex Ollé.
